i'm gone as the day is fading on white houses

It's officially! I will be moving into my new apartment August 15th! I couldn't be more excited. As of now, I have to keep the shopping trips to HomeGoods at a minimum because I have to start packing up of my stuff soon. I did get this new wall piece last week that I'm absolutely in love with!

If you have been following me for awhile, you saw my vintage shutter door that is a gray distressed color and when I found this I couldn't believe it matched so perfectly! I've decided to store my nail polish in it, but I'm looking to install some small shelves inside so you can see them all! Of course it is from HomeGoods and was around $60.

I can also hang some necklaces from the bottom two hooks! The little perfume bottles at the top and Eiffel Tower and both from an antique store that has a vintage Shabby Chic vendor. They both together cost $15! I can't wait to move in and start decorating again! Once I get all settled in, I will definitely do an apartment blog post. My life has been so hectic lately with my internship, research position, and figuring out when I'm moving etc. I just want to thank you all for commenting on my blog posts and following me on this journey :)

courtesy of the red, white & blue

My fourth of July nails were done in a hurry because I had one of the worst weeks I could ever imagine. Someone decided to steal my tires off of my car last Saturday. It's a shame to see how awful certain people can be in the world. I'm a strong believer in karma and know they'll get theirs. I finally got new tires on Friday and now I'm just paranoid it's going to happen again which I shouldn't be, I should feel safe where I live. I'm in the process of moving apartment complexes which I couldn't be more happy about! Enough about all that, on my nails is China Glaze's Mrs. Claus, China Glaze's Little Drummer Boy on my ring finger, and Essie's Set in Stones over it. The China Glaze nail polishes are from two winter's ago I believe. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and let me know what you had on your nails if you painted them!

sweet summertime

My most recent shopping trip involved a lot of summery new pieces! I figured I'd let you all have a peek before I start doing outfit of the days and such! I absolutely love everything that I bought and can't wait to style some new outfits! Everything but the bleached chambray and navy/tan striped blouse were from Forever 21. The floral high waisted denim shorts might have to be my favorite!

knockout pout

Nail of the week is Essie's Knockout Pout! This color is one of those that look different in various light settings. In my apartment it looks like a deep pink color, but out in the sun it comes off as a true neon. Definitely looks great on your toes and if you're like me and like to tan in the summer sunshine (a lot) it will definitely fade into a light pink shade. Love this polish and perfect for summer! Going to be picking up some bright new shades this coming week! Any suggestions?!

organization at its finest

I'm a sucker for anything that has to do with organization. I have to hold myself back from buying simple baskets or containers because I always think I can use them, when in reality they are probably making more of a clutter. I finally found the perfect storage space to hold some of my makeup! I first noticed something similar on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but it retailed for around $300! Lo and behold the Muji Drawers that I'm so incredibly happy with!

It cost me around $35 with shipping/tax and I purchased the 5 drawer one. There were other various styles like a 3 drawer, which was a little bit deeper, as well as ones that the lid actually lifted up.

I will definitely be purchasing one more in the future, but crossing my fingers to get an actual vanity within the next year when I move out of my apartment! Let me know how you store your makeup!

'Merica

I've recently come across the coolest pair of shorts bearing a not so cool price tag. They retailed for about $198 and I knew that I could make them myself. I ran out to Goodwill, picked up some high waist denim jeans, and began to cut and destroy. I then purchased a flag bandana because obviously no one can cut a real flag, shame on you if you thought I did so! Sewed it on by hand and voila! Overall, these cost me a total of $8 and came out pretty awesome if I do say so myself. Definitely a fun DIY project! -Made in America.

minty goodness

Spring time is finally here and the Florida weather has been feeling more like it lately. As we begin to transition into summer, my favorite colors of the season begin to fill the stores. Light pink, lavender, yellow, and my favorite, mint, have been in abundance and I couldn't be happier! On one of my usually weekly trips to target, I came across an amazing bag for $30. It is a light mint color that I tried to capture on camera. It goes perfect with pretty much every color! I'm absolutely in love with it and it is definitely going to be one of my staple pieces this summer.

H&M has amazing accessories and I recently picked up this bracelet that continues on with my mint obsession. The hints of gold and white accent the mint color and make this bracelet very versatile when accessorizing. I have a tiny wrist, but it fits perfectly. Being large in size it surprisingly isn't heavy which is what I was worried about. $9 well worth it!

My nail color of the week was Sally Hansen's Smooth and Perfect Color Care in Air. A very pale blue that looks great with a summer tan! Definitely an every day wearable color.

Forever 21, H&M, Zara, Victoria Secret and A'Gaci haul in my up and coming blog posts! Full of high waisted denim, bathing suits, and summer pieces! Have you found any favorite summer items so far?!

boho chic

Target has always had amazing accessories for very affordable prices and recently they've come out with a boho inspired line of clutches, backpacks, and handbags. When my eyes fell on this off-white leather purse, I knew I had to have it. I had been looking for a fringe bag for awhile now and didn't want to spend over $100 on one from Steve Madden when this trend can only stay around for so long. This one was $30! It's a slouchy bag with an adjustable strap and very spacious inside.

Target also has amazing shoes if you didn't know that already. It was about time I invested in a new pair of white sandals and came across these braided leather ones for $15! Target shoes are so comfortable, never give me blisters, and last me well over the years. I keep my shoes in good condition and avoid wearing them in the rain or walking in the dirt when at all possible.

This teal cross body bag I purchased from Forever 21 for $15. Teal is my favorite color and this leather purse has such great detail. It's small in size, but can fit my fossil wallet in it and iPhone comfortably. A day to night purse that's for sure. Very pleased with these two finds because it's not everyday I buy handbags!

M.A.C

This past weekend I made my way to the Cosmetic Company Outlet (CCO) near me and I was so happy to find MAC's Morning Frost paint pot from the Glitter and Ice collection! It is a shimmering champagne taupe color. Paint pots can be used as a base or as an all over lid color. It's like a cream eyeshadow and lasts all day. I tried to pick up the color in the picture that I took, but it still doesn't do it justice. Highly recommend it if you can get your hands on it since it's not available on the website anymore. I also got it for $12 instead of $19!

I also picked up a new coral blush at the MAC counter for the spring time and decided on Style. I had heard awesome reviews about this product and the lady at the counter said it would be a perfect shade for me. It is a coral-peach with gold pearl frost, but doesn't come off shimmery or glittery which I was worried about! Applies easily and definitely has staying power. With a tan it makes an instant glow and I have been using it every day since I got it. Around $20 and well worth it! I was also thinking about picking up MAC's Fleur Power next, any thoughts or suggestions?!

light up the night

The majority of items in my apartment are from HomeGoods, which would have to be one of my favorite home decor stores. Very affordable and well made furniture, wall art, bedding, you name it they practically have it all. From antiques to modern art, the possibilities are endless in this store.

One of my most recent finds is a vintage shutter that is a distressed gray color. I bought it for around $35. I also added a string of white lights around it and at night time it looks amazing!

I also featured it on the HomeGoods website if you'd like to take a look! http://www.homegoods.com/finds/2012/02/27/new-customer-find-by-lexi-kay/

breakfast at tiffanys

Turquoise and Caicos by Essie has always been one of my go to nail colors. It comes off as a deep Tiffany teal, but photographs much brighter with the flash on. Takes about three coats and is definitely a must for spring!

it's about time!

I've had this blog for awhile now and have finally decided it's about time to get it up and running! If you are randomly coming across this blog, here's a little bit about myself. I'm a 21 year old college student living in the Sunshine State. Currently majoring in Psychology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Behavioral Forensics. Fashion, photography, and traveling would have to be three of my favorite things in life. Pretty much what this blog is going to consist of! In my spare time you can find me horseback riding, writing, at the beach, just livin' life. As for the name of my blog, I pretty much live in denim. So click that little button on the left and follow me! :)
